I'm a complete loser!

*Extremely animated, arm waving, screaming and crying*

I have worked on a complex area for some long hours. Lots and lots of crazy walkmesh tricks finally worked perfectly. I saved it in directory mode and got my self into the bed. Yesterday I opened up the toolset to find that it's empty. No areas, not placeables, nothing... The files are all in the directory and has valid sizes. Tonight I'll try to make a new module with the same area names to see if I can trick it into reading my old files.

Not to myself:
Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save. Backup first, then save.

BTW. Dragon Age looks cool, the sales and marketing guy are really flexing their muscles. If the QA and story writers are 10% of that this will be a killer RPG (if it wasn't for the lack of MultiPlayer)

Hi,

Can you copy the "corrupt" files into another directory (before opening the toolset) and try opening the copied directory instead.

Also, try running an error-checking program on your HD as well. That can fix lost file allocations. (NB: This can lose files permanently if they are corrupted.)

You have my utmost sympathies. I am not sure I would have the enthusiasm to redo something like that. :(

I believe English is not your first language, but you may want to correct your title to "Loser" instead of "Looser" ... unless of course that is what you meant ... but I doubt it. ;)

I have helped some sad developers before by faking the corrupt files so that only the placeables or texture or walkmesh is lost. It's really irritating as I usually have a backup bat-file that I run before saving.
The HD-check idea is a good suggestion and I'll try it.

:) The English language is also one area where I'm a loser.
